Author Guidelines for the Journal of Laguna Geography (Joulage)

Journal of Laguna Geography (Joulage) provides a platform for researchers, scholars, and practitioners to share their findings in Geography, Geography Education, and related disciplines. The following guidelines outline the requirements and procedures for submitting manuscripts to ensure a smooth and successful submission process.

1. Manuscript Types

Joulage accepts the following types of manuscripts:

  • Research Articles: Original research findings with significant contributions to the field of Geography.

  • Review Articles: Comprehensive reviews summarising current knowledge on a specific geographical topic.

  • Short Communications: Brief reports on novel findings or methodologies in Geography.

  • Case Studies: Practical examples of applying geographic principles in various fields.

2. Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts must be prepared according to the following formatting guidelines:

  • Language: Manuscripts should be written in English or Bahasa Indonesia.

  • Font: Maiandra GD, 1o-point size.

  • Line Spacing: 1 spacing for the main text, single spacing for references.

  • Margins: 1 inch (2.5 cm) on all sides.

  • Length: Research articles should be between 4,000–6,000 words. Short communications should not exceed 2,000 words.

  • Title: A concise and informative title. Avoid abbreviations.

  • Abstract: Include an abstract of 150-250 words summarizing the aims, methods, results, and conclusions.

  • Keywords: Provide 3-5 keywords that accurately describe the content of the article.

  • Headings: Use clear and concise headings for different sections, such as Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion.

  • Figures and Tables: All figures and tables should be included in the manuscript file, placed after the reference list. Ensure that all figures and tables are numbered consecutively and have descriptive captions.

3. References

  • Citation Style: Follow the APA (American Psychological Association) citation style for both in-text citations and the reference list.

  • Reference List: List all references at the end of the manuscript in alphabetical order. Ensure that all citations in the text are included in the reference list and vice versa.

4. Plagiarism and Originality

  • All submissions will be screened for plagiarism. Manuscripts found to have plagiarized content will be rejected.

  • Authors must ensure that the submitted manuscript is original and has not been published elsewhere. If the article is based on previously published work, proper citation and acknowledgment are required.

5. Submission Process

  • Online Submission: Manuscripts should be submitted through the journal's online submission system. Authors must create an account on the journal’s platform to submit their manuscript.

  • Double-Blind Peer Review: The journal follows a double-blind peer-review process. Authors should ensure that the manuscript does not contain any information that could identify the authorship during the review process (e.g., self-citation of the authors' own works in an identifiable way).

  • Cover Letter: Authors must include a cover letter with their submission that briefly explains the significance of the research and its relevance to the journal’s focus and scope.

  • Ethical Approval: Research involving human participants or animals must have the appropriate ethical approval. Authors should include a statement confirming this in their manuscript.

6. Ethical Guidelines

  • Authors must adhere to ethical research practices, including proper citation of sources, avoidance of fabrication or falsification of data, and disclosure of any conflicts of interest.

  • If applicable, authors should disclose funding sources or any potential conflicts of interest related to their research.

7. Revision and Final Acceptance

  • Authors may be required to revise their manuscripts based on reviewers’ comments. The revised manuscript must be resubmitted with a response letter explaining how the reviewer’s comments were addressed.

  • After the final approval of the manuscript, authors will be notified about its acceptance and publication.

8. Publication Fee

  • Joulage is an open-access journal. Authors are required to pay an article processing charge (APC) upon acceptance of their manuscript. Details regarding the APC fee will be provided during the submission process.

9. Copyright and Licensing

  • Authors must transfer the copyright of the article to the Journal of Laguna Geography upon acceptance of the manuscript. The article will be published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).
