The Indonesian Journal of Earth Sciences is unwavering in its commitment to publish significant, high-quality research across the spectrum of Earth Sciences. It upholds a fair, rapid, and rigorous peer-review process, managed by a team of professional editors to ensure the publication of impactful research. This journal stands as a beacon for scholars aiming to contribute meaningful insights into the Earth Sciences domain.

The inaugural issue, Volume 1 Number 1, was published in June 2021, featuring five articles in Bahasa Indonesia. This was followed by Volume 1 Number 2 in December 2021, which expanded its repertoire to include seven articles in both Bahasa Indonesia and English, welcoming contributions from authors worldwide. Commencing with Volume 2 in 2022, the Indonesian Journal of Earth Sciences transitioned to publishing exclusively in English, aiming to broaden its impact on the global Earth Sciences community and ensure the accessibility of its content to a worldwide audience.

In a notable achievement, the journal was indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) in August 2022, signifying its adherence to high-quality, open access publishing standards. Further elevating its prestige, in 2023, the journal was recommended and indexed in GeoRef by the American Geosciences Institute (AGI). GeoRef is an authoritative database for academic research in the geosciences, covering journals and series that are openly available on the web. Inclusion in GeoRef is a testament to the journal's commitment to providing stable, open-access to current issues, maintaining multiple issues available for use, and planning to continue being available in an open manner.

The Indonesian Journal of Earth Sciences has made significant strides in achieving a global reach, having published articles from authors in Afghanistan, Belgium, Benin, China, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Mauritius, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Taiwan, Turkey, United Kingdom, and Libya. This diverse contribution underscores the journal's international appeal and relevance in the Earth Sciences community.

Equally important is the composition of the journal's editorial board, which boasts members from different countries, ensuring that each article is handled with expertise and a global perspective.
